Privacy Policy

SocialMock is built to need as little of your data as possible. Most of what you make never leaves your browser.
The short version
- You can use the whole studio and export images without an account.
- The scenes you build are stored in your own browser, not on our servers — unless you sign in and explicitly save a project.
- We never see the images you export. They are rendered on your device and downloaded directly from it.
- We do not sell your personal data.
Who we are
SocialMock (“we”, “us”) operates socialmock.com. For any privacy question, or to exercise the rights below, email contact@socialmock.com.
What we collect
Stored on your device only
The scene you are editing — contact names, message text, colours, device settings — is written to your browser’s localStorage so your work survives a refresh. It is never transmitted to us. Clearing your browser storage deletes it permanently, and we cannot recover it.
Usage analytics
We run first-party analytics and may also use Google Analytics 4 when a measurement ID is configured. On first visit, our first-party system generates a random identifier and stores it in your browser. It is not derived from your name, email or message content. Each event records:
| Field | Example |
|---|---|
| Event name | page_view, studio_open, export_png |
| Page path | /studio |
| Which app skin was used | |
| Random browser identifier | a random UUID |
| Timestamp | — |
Our analytics database does not store your IP address, message content or exported image. The events endpoint reads an IP address briefly to rate-limit abuse and then discards it. Google may process device and network data under its own privacy terms when Google Analytics is enabled; analytics storage is denied by default in the EEA, UK and Switzerland.
If you create an account
Signing in is optional and only needed to save projects to the cloud. We use Google or Apple sign-in; we never see or store your password. From the provider we receive your name, email address and profile picture, and we store the tokens needed to keep you signed in. If you save a project, we store the project name and its contents against your account.
If you ask to be notified
If you give us your email address to be told when something ships, we store that address, which page you gave it on, and the date. Nothing else — no name, and it is never combined with your analytics identifier. We use it only to send the thing you asked about, we do not sell or share it, and you can have it deleted at any time by emailing contact@socialmock.com.
If you contact us
The contact form stores your name, email address, the topic you chose and your message, and sends a copy to our support mailbox so we can reply. We keep it long enough to deal with what you wrote and to have a record of how we handled it.
If you send feedback
The feedback button in the studio sends us your message, an email address if you choose to give one, and a short description of what you were looking at: which app skin and format were open, whether the page was in light or dark mode, your browser window size, the page address, the build of the site you were on, your browser’s user-agent string and your anonymous analytics identifier. This exists so a bug report is actionable without us having to write back and ask.
We do not send the scene you are editing unless you tick the box that says so. That box is off every time the form opens, and ticking it for one report does not tick it for the next. If you leave it alone, the names and message text in your mockup stay in your browser exactly as described above.
If you do tick it, we receive the mockup as text — the names, the messages and the settings — so we can open it and reproduce what went wrong. Pictures you uploaded are never included, whether the box is ticked or not: they are stripped out in your browser before the report is sent, and stripped again when it arrives. We keep an attached scene with the report it belongs to and delete it with that report.
One kind of report — “it doesn’t look like the real app” — also offers to send a photo of the real app, because comparing ours against a real screenshot is the only reliable way to fix that class of problem. Choosing a photo is always a separate, deliberate action: no other kind of report offers it, nothing is pre-selected, and you see the picture you have chosen before you press Send.
Please read what is in a screenshot before you send one. A picture of a real conversation shows real names, phone numbers and faces, and unlike the scene, we cannot strip anything out of a photograph — it is pixels, and whatever is in them arrives with it. Crop it, or use a conversation you do not mind us seeing. What we do remove is the hidden data attached to the file: your browser re-draws and re-saves the image before sending, which discards the camera and location information a phone photo normally carries. We keep a photo with the report it belongs to, it is visible only to us, and deleting the report destroys it.
If you register interest in Pro
If you tell us you would pay for Pro we store your name, email address, anything you wrote about what you need, and which page you were on. We use it to decide what to build and to write to you when there is something to try. There is no payment step and we do not collect payment details anywhere on this site.
When you use any form on this site
The contact, feedback, Pro-interest and notify-me forms are protected by Cloudflare Turnstile, a check that tells a person from an automated script. It replaces the kind of puzzle that asks you to identify traffic lights, and for almost everyone it is invisible — there is nothing to click.
To do that, Cloudflare receives your IP address and signals about your browser, and processes them under its own privacy policy. Cloudflare states that Turnstile does not use this data to build an advertising profile of you and does not set cookies for tracking. We receive only a yes or no, and we send your IP address to Cloudflare with the check so it can score the request. We do not store it.
Cookies and similar technologies
We use:
- Essential storage — keeps you signed in and preserves your work in progress. The site cannot function without it.
- Advertising cookies — where advertising is shown, our advertising partners may set cookies to serve and measure ads.
- Analytics storage — Google Analytics may use cookies outside the EEA, UK and Switzerland when it is enabled. Our own anonymous analytics identifier is stored in
localStorage.
Advertising
We may display advertising on eligible editorial pages to keep the free tier free. We do not place ads in the studio, generator pages, templates or export flow. Where ads appear, third-party vendors including Google may use cookies to serve and measure them. See our Editorial and Advertising Standards.
- Google explains how it processes data on publisher sites in its partner-sites privacy notice.
- Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads based on your visits to our site and other sites.
- You can opt out of personalised advertising in Google Ads Settings.
- You can opt out of third-party vendors’ use of cookies at aboutads.info/choices.
If you are in the EEA, the UK or Switzerland, we do not set any non-essential cookie at all — advertising and analytics storage are switched off for you by default, and no consent banner is shown because there is nothing to consent to. If we introduce advertising there, we will ask first, through a certified consent tool, and you will be able to change or withdraw that choice at any time.
How long we keep things
- Analytics events — 24 months, then deleted.
- Account and saved projects — until you delete them or close your account.
- Work in progress — until you clear your browser storage.
- Notification email addresses — until you ask us to delete yours.
- Feedback, Pro interest and contact messages — 24 months, then deleted, or sooner if you ask.
- Anti-spam counters — these record only an address and a count, and expire automatically within 24 hours.
Your rights
Depending on where you live you may have the right to access, correct, export or delete your personal data, to object to processing, and to withdraw consent. Email contact@socialmock.com and we will respond within 30 days. You also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.
Children
This site is not directed at children under 13 (or under 16 in the EEA), and we do not knowingly collect their personal data.
Changes
If we change this policy we will update the date at the top of this page, and for significant changes we will make it clear on the site.
