WeChatWeChat mockups

Fake WeChat chat & screenshot generator

Build a WeChat conversation with the details Western mockups always miss — pale green bubbles with black text rather than white, rounded-square avatars on both sides of the thread, a warm grey page, and no read receipts anywhere, because WeChat has never had them.

How to make a WeChat mockup

  1. Start from an example

The three above are ordinary WeChat conversations rather than jokes: a family group four time zones apart, splitting a dinner bill, and a landlord about a boiler.

  2. Set the contact

A person for a one-to-one, or turn on Group and give the thread a name. Chinese characters work throughout, including in the header.

  3. Write the messages

Set who sent each one. Times appear as centred dividers rather than on every bubble, so you are setting when a run happened rather than stamping each line.

  4. Ignore the receipts

There is nothing to set — WeChat has no read receipts and the skin will not draw any. That absence is part of what makes the screenshot correct.

  5. Export

PNG at 1× free, up to 3× on Pro, the whole thread or one screen, with or without the phone frame.

How the WeChat interface is put together

Our WeChat skin is rebuilt from the real interface in code rather than traced from a screenshot, so the details that make it recognisable survive at export resolution. Here is what those details actually are.

Green bubbles, black text

This is the single biggest tell, and almost every Western-made WeChat mockup gets it wrong. WeChat's outgoing green is a pale, slightly yellow green with BLACK text on it. WhatsApp, LINE and every other green messenger use a saturated green with white text. Reach for WhatsApp green here and the screenshot is wrong at a glance to a billion people.

There are no read receipts. At all.

WeChat has never had them — no ticks, no Seen, no Read. Drawing any is an instant giveaway, and the skin refuses to render them even if the document carries one. If you have used another generator that put ticks on a WeChat mockup, that mockup was wrong.

Your own avatar sits beside your own messages

WeChat shows both people's avatars, on both sides of the thread. Almost nothing else does this — most messengers show only the other person, on the assumption you know who you are. A one-sided avatar column reads as WhatsApp.

Rounded squares, not circles

WeChat avatars are squares with a small radius. The rest of the roster is almost entirely circular, so the shape alone does real identifying work before you have read a character.

A warm grey page, and tails

The thread sits on a light warm grey rather than white, and each bubble has a small triangular tail pointing at its avatar. Two subtle things that together are most of the texture of a WeChat screenshot.

Time is a divider, not a stamp

There are no per-message timestamps. Time appears as a small centred divider between groups of messages, which is why a WeChat thread looks so much cleaner than a WhatsApp one.

Questions about WeChat mockups

Why can't I add read receipts?
Because WeChat does not have them. The skin ignores the receipt field rather than drawing ticks the app has never shown — a mockup with ticks on it is one of the fastest ways to be spotted as fake by anyone who actually uses WeChat.
Does it support Chinese characters?
Yes. Type or paste them directly and they render in the bubbles and the header. The examples above mix Chinese and English deliberately, because that is how a lot of real threads read.
Why is my own avatar showing?
That is correct — WeChat draws both sides. It is one of the details that separates it from every other green messenger, so it is not a bug and there is no switch to turn it off.
Can I make a group?
Yes. Turn on Group in the Contact section and add the people who speak in the People section. WeChat shows the sender's name above their message in a group, which the skin does automatically.
Can I fake a message from a real person?
No, and our terms prohibit it. Attributing an invented message to a named real person is impersonation. Every example on this page uses fictional people.
Can I export a long thread?
Yes. The download dialog offers the whole conversation at its true height, exactly one screen, or fit-to-content, so nothing is cropped at the fold.
Is there a watermark?
Free downloads carry a small SIMULATED · socialmock.com label, burned into the pixels, at 1× resolution. Pro removes the label and unlocks 2× and 3×. You can also switch the label on yourself at any tier, which is worth doing if you are publishing somewhere a viewer might take the image at face value.
Can I make it a video?
Yes — the conversation types itself out message by message, and can be composited onto a 9:16, 4:5, 1:1 or 16:9 canvas for a Reel or a slide.

Use these responsibly

Everything made here is simulated. SocialMock has no connection to WeChat and cannot read, send or alter a real message. Do not use a mockup to impersonate anyone, pass it off as a genuine screenshot, or present it as evidence in any legal, workplace or academic matter — see our Acceptable Use policy. For general information about legal risk, read is it legal to fake a screenshot? If you publish somewhere a viewer might mistake it for real, switch on the “Simulated” label before exporting.
